Indian Cyclists Network

Hi !

This is my first post !

I have returned  to cycling after a very long time. I used to own a flying pigeon way back in 1986, and in those days there was hardly any variety in imported bikes.Raleigh was very expensive, and options were less.
Anyway could you please guide me to a balanced bike for city roads, my usage would be approx 30 to 40 minutes a day. Mainly pleasure riding.
Bike Requirements

1. All weather bike, I plan to ride in the rain.
2. Spare parts should be easily available, and not too expensive.
3. Budget could be around 5000.
4. Any dealers near to Andheri (w), can travel if getting a better deal.
5. I weigh approx 80 kg, so should be durable.

Should I go for an Indian or imported bikes?

Looking forward to your replies !

You can try one of the hybrid bikes coz that suits your need best..You can visit our store Kohinoor Cycle Stores at Bandra(west) for the best range coz we deal in all Indian and Int'l brands so you can try out all the bikes and judge what suits you best..You can call Mr.Pushkar Vora on 9930237371 before you visit so that he is present to guide you through the same...

Btw we are Raleigh dealers too...so you can also try those bikes at our store
I read some of the posts, on this forum. I too feel that a hybrid would be the perfect option. Budget is subjective, something extraordinary can definitely be accommodated.
I have spent some great days at Kalbadevi metro cycle and bombay cycle ( or was it bharat cycle) Lol ! metro had a raleigh offwhite colour for Rs 8500 way back in 1984 and we used to drool looking at it.
I was wondering about any dealers close to andheri west, but then again your suggestions would be paramount.
Just for my knowledge, what are the brands that majority of the members own. (ie city driving).

your input is valuable.
Hey Sajid

You can try some mountain bike with a smoother tread pattern so that alongwith the sturdiness you will also have the feel of a hybrid bike...Also you can try the road bikes and hybrid bikes available on display..

There are various brands available like Firefox, Trek, Merida, Cannondale, Schwinn, Fomas, Hercules and a host of other brands...

I'd frankly suggest that you try the bikes before you take a call regarding the same...Accessories and spare parts are also always available alongwith a strong service support at our store...

Regards,
Siddharth
