Indian Cyclists Network

Hey guys, after a lot of research/feedbacks want to finalize between either of these two bikes... components wise schwinn looks better at apx 15k i.e with disk brakes , acera deraillers but trek 3700 has a long and continuous reputation of delivering the goods though a bit costlier at 19K but no disks and altus deraillers.

So need your opinions for the final ::sniper ....
Thanks...TC...

I'm using a Trek.
After sales service is good.
Components are good. So far my experience with Altus has been good.
Schwinn gives 5 years warranty on frame whereas Trek comes with a lifetime warranty on Frame.
Trek frame is better than Schwinn (the lower triangle of the Diamond), except the frame rest all components are consumables. With regular use a derailleur might last for 2 to 3 years. Disc brakes will be of use only if you are doing a downhill. The Tektro V brakes which comes fitted on 3700 are very much effective, I never felt the need of Disc Brakes.

So if you are planning for a long term investment go for Trek.
If you are planning to upgrade it after a couple of years go for Schwinn.
Hi Amit call me on 9819993295 for a comprative discussion , its too lengthy to write all that here on every posting .

discs certainly carry their merits of braking since they work the best in all weather & also the consumption of pads is very slow .

the components are almost the same types on all models & you can get them on all brands ..
Only what differs is the frame which is claimed as made by the company ( they to are outsourced for manufacturing by many :) ) .
have you consider hero octane? its fully aluminum body with double suspensions, double disk brakes. 21 shifts (shimano gears). checkout photos in my album for more details.
frontier is a very good bike for the price,. and components. dont get too caught up in warranty issues. you are not going to break either frame.
also, it is only against "manufacturing defects". service is the onus of the dealer, so pick the right one if thats a concern...

Amit Narsana my friend, this is Manish Joshi, why are u getting confused over which bike to buy. U have rode my TREK 3700 and also my CANNONDALE F7, and inspite Cannondale F7 has better components, I advised u to go for Trek3700 or Trek 4300, its up to u. The ride quality is best. I can't understand. u are asking the whole biking fraternity and rightly said by Kailas that TREK is the best. Dude Lance Armstrong ain't foolish to ride Trek. I hope got your answer.
