The event is likely to be attended by many cycling enthusiasts from Delhi and NCR cities like Gurgaon, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad and people from different walks of life, age group and profession.

Key objectives of the event are to: 1) raise awareness about climate change and rising vehicular pollution; and 2) promote Cycling, Walking and Public Transport as the most healthy and environment-friendly way of commuting within the city.

There ride will cover 11-kms distance and will start at 0800 hrs from Ambedkar Nagar T-point and pass through Lal Bahadur Shashtri Marg, Chirag Delhi Flyover, Moolchand Flyover, and culminate again at Ambedkar Nagar T-point around 0930 hrs. SOME EXTRA BICYCLES WILL BE AVAILABLE

We are arranging some extra cycles at the venue which would be available free of cost for the ride on first-come-first serve basis to participants who don’t own a bicycle presently or find it difficult to bring them to the venue. To avoid any inconvenience, you are requested to let us know in advance about your bicycle requirement.

ASSEMBLY TIME & VENUE

You are requested to assemble by 07.45 AM at the parking lot near Ambedkar Nagar T-point. Those participants who would be availing our bicycle facility or people who would be cycling in real traffic for the first time or after a long gap they are requested to arrive at the venue 30-45-minutes before the start so that they could be given some useful cycling/road safety tips and allocated the bicycle by our volunteers before the ride.

Climate Bicycle Ride programme was launched by Delhi Cycling Club in June 2009 as a first of its kind initiative and so far have organised three such events during the last one and half years with active support and participation from organisations like DIMTS, ITDP and The Open Planning Project, Firefox Bicyces etc.

If you want to extend volunteer support to DCC in organising and/or learning of conducting events like this, then please send us a mail and we would be happy to have your involvement as part of our organising team.

We would be very grateful if you can set aside some time from your busy schedule to join our cycling event on Sunday. Your presence is key to the success of this event and also in promoting an important environmental and public cause.

The Zen story is simply awesome, Shammi. This is the power of cycling. I read it somewhere that one should think of bicycles as rideable art that can just about save the world!
