Travelogue: Pune-Goa cycling from 1st May to 4th may, 2009

Hello folks

I had a year plan of 2009 to ride Pune-Mumbai-Pune (did on Feb 28 & March 01), Pune-Bangalore and Pune-Delhi. Jaydeep (my companion on Pune-Goa ride) saw my Pune-Bangalore plan on cyclists.in and wrote me about his interest to join but he can’t as he is leaving for Germany in first week of September, 2009. He also wrote about his plan of Pune-Goa ride, scheduled for last week of April. As the trip date was just 2-3 days away and I was not prepared for it either… Continue

Travelogue Pune-Mumbai-Pune cycling on Feb-28-2009 and March-01-2009

I started at 4.15 am on Saturday, Feb 28, 2009, from Pune. The Dehu-road traffic was frightful but the highway was still manageable. The climate was very pleasant with minimal traffic on NH4 till 6 am. Encountered pleasant expressions/gestures from joggers on the Lonavala-Khandala stretch. I enjoyed the Khandala-Khopoli ghat most, as it was total downhill of 10 KM.

I crossed Vashi at around 11 am and reached Kings Circle at 12:40 pm. I had my lunch and much needed break at kings… Continue

Thanks Gagan for the update, but still if you could update me with a model plan .. since i intend to use my holidays in the last week of December solely for this purpose. This will be handy & will save lots of my time for planning.

I have seen your profile, with impressive long distance tours. Iam sure you can help me on this.

Thanks
Bhushan

Hi Gagan,

I would have liked to join the BRM for Pune - Panchgani - Pune, but due to some reason will not be able to make it this saturday.

Request you to kindly confirm if there are schedule plans for the last 2 weeks of Dec 2011 for any long distance tour. Also would like to know if you have any plans or website links which can guide on making cycling tours preperation, since that will be handy if i have to make one in the month of Dec 2011 on my own.

Your help in this regards will be appreciated.

Thanks
Bhushan

Gagan,

Really liked your travelogues.
You mentioned that you carried your bicycle back from Goa in a Volvo bus.
So when you travel really far like Kanyakumari or Chennai, how did you carry your bicycle back? What is the cost of carrying the bicycle in a train or plane?
Is the bicycle considered a part of your standard luggage or are there special charges for this?
