hi Prabodh...I am mostly a road biker, actually a commuter, average distances between 25/30kms in combinations of cement, tar, paver block and such roads. Currently been using the Hero Hawk NuAge for almost 3 years...
Seriously interested in switching to a hybrid, which will allow me some offroading too...(Budget is between 15,000-20,000 INR).
I know of the Merida Crossway and Trek 7100 series, wanted to know abt the Scott Hyrbrid and how they compare vis-a-vis the above too....
Hope u can help me with this..
Hi Prabodh. I have checked with Sheldon Brown and with Bike forums, and the view is that if an alloy seatpost is stuck in a steel seat tube, heating will not help because the alloy will expand more. Lubricants too will not help- it will work on steel seat posts and rust. For oxidisation, which is our problem, ammonia may help. The other solution is to cut off the seat post leaving 1/2 " sticking out of the tube. Then to take a hacksaw blade inside the seat post and to cut down to the steel. After the seat post is cut vertically, take a pair of pliers and curl the seatpost into a narrower shape, thus removing it from the steel it is sticking to.
Hi Prabodh. I know that randonneuring is about long distance riding in a relaxed way. But that is about all I know. Satish mentioned that results are sent to France for homologation, which suggested that there must be a fair set of rules.
