My favourite ride so far:
Pedalled alone 1800 kms on bicycle (20 days journey) in December 2009 from Bangalore to Khamgaon (Maharashtra). Nashik - Mumbai. I would pedal average 100 kms/day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. with night halt in lodges. For details of journey please refer the blog. It was a most memorable journey.
A bit about myself:
I keep fitness as top most of my priority. Although I was not an athlete in yester years, for the last 8 years have been undertaking regular walking 5 kms a day, have participated and won 100/200 mts running race and long jump in 40+ age group category. For the last one year developed passion for cycling and bought a Race cycle. On returning from memorable bicycle journey in December 2009 pedalling 1800 kms in 20 days have taken up writing.

Creating Polio Awareness thru; bicycle journey....

Polio Eradication continues to be top priority work for ROTARY INTERNATIONAL, UNICEF & WHO. What is sad and disheartening is that despite globalization, liberalization and economic development in our country, India continues to be one amongst 4 nations in the world (after Pakistan, Afghanistan & Nigeria) where polio cases are still being reported. As of now the Govt of India has declared 16th January 2011 & 20th February 2011 as National Immunization Day (NID).

Keeping this… Continue

H! - I have succesfully completed TOSK (Tour of shegaon-Khamgaon) on cycling. I left bangalore on 8th Dec '09 morning and covered a distance of around 1200 kms via Bellary, Gulbarga, Latur, Bheed, Jalna, Chikli, Khamgaon reaching Shegaon on 18th Dec at 12.30 p.m. I had memorable ride but was alone. I covered 100 kms average per day. I carried luggage on my back and though it was heavy quickly got used to it and had no problem. I stayed in lodges. I shall be leaving for Nashik on 21st Dec morning and plan to reach there on 23rd Dec evening. On 25th I plan to leave for Mumbai and if everything goes as per my plan I shall take Volvo Bus to Bangalore from Mumbai on 28th Dec. I shall call you while I am in Mumbai. Keeping good health. All my friends at Khamgaon were shocked with disbelief that I could come on bicycle all the way from Bangalore and hugged me. Regards.
