After a bike crash!!!

Dear bike lovers, have you had a nasty crash or a fall yet? My question is, how do you mentally recover from it? Earlier, when I did off-roading on a particularly treacherous rocky terrain, I could…Continue

How effective is a Tyre Liner???

Well the confusion is whether or not to put a tyre liner. Is it really effective against frequent punctures and tube bursts? Is it good for off roading? How much does it cost? I was told around 800…Continue

5000 people, one cyclothon

Well, Salman Khan cudn't make it but 4999 other cyclists did. Plus me. But for the sheer strength of the number, there isn't much else to ride about! Even though it was an event to promote the upcoming Commonwealth Games, many could not manage to overlook the sordid state of part of the route that stretched near C.P. More than anything, more than the flashy jackets, the VIP lounge area, and the cameras, more than the D.J. host, the most striking thing was the line up of cops across the…

New cycle route for CWG 2010

It cuts through Connaught Place. The mass cycle road race at the Commonwealth Games 2010 has finally been approved! It will now start from in front of the Free Church on Sansad Marg and will no longer encircle the swimming complex in Talkatora stadium, as planned earlier.

The new route will now go through Connaught Place, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, Central Vista, and back to Sansad Marg. It will basically turn the public roads into a race track for the Delhi Games…

The rain was mischievous.

No, I wasn't wearing a helmet and was talking on the cell (both not advisable). But the rain played mischief. It started to pour heavily soon as I started my ride towards Tilak Marg. Damn. Do you wait it out under the shade of a tree or do you live the free life freewheeling down the wet wild roads dancing under the rain? I danced.

The stretch was empty, the sky overcast. Raindrops pelted on my blue Trek 3700 (not Firefox) as…

Lake and a purple flower

Such are the things you notice when riding on a bike and not zipping past India Gate in your air-conditioned car. So, while the 6.30 a.m. motorists rushed for an early day at work, I pedalled along the lake on the dust-laden stretch you cannot call a track, near Rajpath, India Gate. It is the popular boating lake, filled with tourists on weekends, and indifferently brushed aside by urban population as another eye sore with its dirty, marshy water. But that is exactly what is so lovely about…

Hi, I have been using the Panaracer Flataway tyre liners for a while now. First it was (continues to be) on the Kenda Kwick Roller Sport tyre fitted to a Trek 3700. I had fitted the Kenda to my bike (that came with knobbies) and I used to pick up 1 to 2 punctures every time I rode about a 100 kms. Since the time I had fitted the liners I have seen no punctures, even tough I ride the same routes and at all seasons. The tyres and liners are now close to 2 years and over 9000km old.

I now also have an Orbea Aqua TTG road bike with Vittoria Zafiro tyres. I have fitted the Panaracer liners to this one too. It has been 4 months and over 2000 km's since fitting - with no punctures.

I would recommend Liners for our roads and terrain. I have no negative observation on fitting these. Good luck with your decision.
