Cycled to "Phoenix High Street" from my residence at Prabhadevi at around 1430 hrs on Tuesday(30-11-2010). I was on my way to 'PVR Phoenix" multiplex theatre to attend the 1605 show of "Secretariat", hence decided to leisurely ride the short distance, akin to "horse-riding". The traffic was less as it was non-peak hours of the normal traffic.Strolled around "Phoenix High Street" shopping arcade after booking advance tickets for the 1120 matinee show on Wednesday(1-12-2010) as it was… Continue

TARGET: MATHERAN HILLS
DATE: 28TH NOVEMBER 2010
If the above looks straight out of a hollywood flick, well yes, the events that unfolded today at the Uttan Hill Climbers' organised ride to Matheran Hills, it was surely one. I can even compare the ride to the top hollywood grosser 'Where Eagles Dare'
Since our last event to matheran a fortnight ago, a lot many , including me, were itching… Continue

Having bought a Schwinn Sportera recently, I was all pumped up to go for a maiden longish ride...(longish..as per my standards though :-) )
So got up today morning @ 0630 hrs and pushed off in direction of Fountain Hotel, with the only anxiety of conquering the hill gradient near Golden Valley Resort...
With the cool wind across my face , I could whiz past milestone with my Heart monitor clocking 135 BPM on an average..
Here comes the… Continue

In some of the previous blogs I wrote about the basics, how to build stamina, diet, and the like.
So now that you probably have a bike, you've started riding, and the bug has bitten you. What next? Since most of us are from the city, we've been riding in the city, perhaps around our locality and a little bit beyond. It's getting boring to go around and around the same circuit, be it Carter Road and Bandstand in Bandra, or be it Five Gardens in Matunga, or be it Shivaji Park. If we… Continue

After taking a break of a few days from doing tough rides, the team is at it again.
James posted this ride to Matheran, promising a tough one, and boy oh boy was that a well kept promise! The ride from Panvel to Matheran is about 50 km, and the last 7 km, is the really tough uphill stretch. The plan was to take the bikes to Panvel by… Continue

Well, it lived up to its billing, the toughest MTB challenge in India, Continue
that was no hype, I can tell you
it was rough, tough, hard, just the way we like it, even though we had
somehow understood it would be shorter and a bit easier than previous
editions ... well, shorter yes, but perhaps the "easier" was my
imagination/wishful thinking because some of the new stages were
definitely steeper and rougher (in both directions, up and down) but it
was great to…
