Did you read about this? Lance Armstrong's one-of-a-kind bike was stolen yesterday! He posted the news on twitter instantly.

Dear Guys & Girls,
I am new to this community. I like the idea of cycling and checking out places. I need your opinions, i just bought a Hamilton 24 inches with front and rear suspensions with 6 gears. This is primarily for my daughter, my wife and myself.
I would like to know if it is a good brand or not? also would be grateful if anyone could tell me if this cycle is good enough and comfortable for long rides.
Thank you guys and girls in advance!! I hope… Continue

Just like a majority of you, I am also an ordinary citizen of this great nation. I watched the terror that unfolded on this nation and I watched with even more interest, the uproar of the citizens of this country. I can swear with a certain amount of confidence that our country will remain the same even if the uproar of the citizens this time has been a bit more serious than what we witnessed ever since the 1992 terror attacks. Some heads will roll and have rolled, but believe me, we will still… Continue

Route - Dahisar - Ghodbunder - Thane Bhiwandi BP - Kalyan - Murbad - Kashele - Jamrug
Total Distance - 126.43 KM
Riding Time - 6 hrs 30 mins
Good roads, very little traffic after Murbad.
Rear tire got punctured and had to leave my bike out… Continue

I found this new iPhone application called Trailguru
, and its attached website. Holds significant promise because it tracks both real time and stats. Haven't checked it out on a real bicycle ride yet, though.

I use a cool combination of an iPhone and an application called Firepin to map my rides. Firepin uses the iPhone's GPS to locate and sends the data to the Internet, allowing you to be mapped in near real time.
Drawback: uses lots of power on the iPhone, I have to charge every couple of hours. Also, I can't see the data real time; only after I stop. A properly calibrated cycle computer is both visible real time and more accurate (the iPhone GPS records every few minutes or so, and… Continue

In the book - The Alchemist, the main character Santiago travels from the the Egyptian Pyramids to the deserts and finally finds the treasure in his own backyard.
Its surprising how even fiction-books can sometimes have coincidences in real life. Our ride on Sunday 14th Dec'08 was a shining example of this. In search of an authentic off-road for riding our "TREKS", me, Jo, Amitav and others had gone to as far as even Shivpur in search of an off-road.
However thanks to Jo,… Continue

It is a sad day for Mumbai and indeed India as a whole that terror can be initiated so easily and swiftly. It's very disturbing to see innocent people being taken hostage at top hotels from last night. Mumbai still bleeds, people are still tense, many have not gone to office.
Police are telling people to stay home. Schools and colleges shut. In this climate, I find it astonishing that some members are STILL planning to go ahead with upcoming rides in Mumbai.… Continue

It's great to see so much of activity on the site. Members are posting photos, videos, discussions, blogs and event notifications. However not everyone is tagging these posts.
Tagging any post with keywords helps others search for data on the site easily and quickly rather than manually browsing through hundreds of postings. So please try and add tags to all your posts :) It'll improve the overall site experience.
Cheers! Hope everyone had a cracking Diwali!! :)

We added another great feature to CYCLISTS.IN today. CHAT!
Now, next time you log in, you will see a chat application on the left column which shows all the members who are currently logged in and online right now. Send a quick message or a smiley... be spontaneous! This is also great for multiple members in a group to organise an online discussion for an upcoming ride. I hope everyone will enjoy using this feature. I've been testing this for some time now and… Continue

This is probably one of the oddest cycle inventions I've seen in recent times. This cycle allows you to pedal and purify water at the same time!! :)
