Another TREK-4300 (2010) Model Stolen...!!!!!!!!

Friends, after just 10 days of Amitabh's Trek got stolen, shokingly my TREK-4300 (2010) was stolen today in exactly the same manner from my garage stilt parking from Mahavir Nagar, Kandivali (West). The Firefox numbered wire-lock which hold good for the last 1 year was also missing with the cycle. The american fan hooks through which the cycle was secured was intact. The cycle was probably stolen between 12pm to 4pm in the noon. Surprisingly my kids Religh cycle & my duaghters old one have been spared, which means the thief clearly has a high taste & is well versed with the expensive brands..!! The security man who sits just 2-3 meters away from my garage was simply unaware of any intrusion.Tomorrow morning i will officially lodge the police complain.

My Trek-4300 (2010) Black's Serial No. is WTU126C2175E. So if anybody do find a trail or is offered such a bike, pls contact me at 9892222236,

Friends, please park your cycles in an enclosed garage with a shutter or else find a place & sequeeze it in yur home. Parking in an open stilt parking or bldg area is highly risky & asking for trouble.

Yes, Pankaj thats must be true!
I hope atleast one such thief is caught so that we understand their modus operandi...

Sorry to hear about the theft.

I suspect some cycle store owners who sell these high end brands are involved in this.
Because, none of us would buy such high end cycles from ordinary cycle shops; it would immediately raise suspicion. But given the activity level of the thieves, looks like they are managing to dispose the stolen cycles at a good price.
And it seems difficult to believe that ordinary thieves would know exactly what brands to steal and how to identify customers to dispose them for a good price.

Yes Rajesh its very Sad, I actually blame the attitude of the cops for this, Any Cop worth his uniform can get back your cycle in 24hrs time I can bet you on that, but these guys are just not interested.
Look at the law, I think cycle stealing is a bailable offence and a bail can be obtained for almost Rs1000 i guess, just look at the risk reward ratio, if caught bail for Rs 1000 if not caught can sell the bike for almost 10-15000.

@ Vinni.. the cops were very hesitant to lodge the FIR, in the end had to be a bit aggresive & stop being discreet. Cyling & issues related to it is generally looked upon as a "kidish matteer" in our society, which is very sad.

It kind of hurts to see such expensive bikes getting stolen in broad day light. What's even more disappointing is the lack of interest of the cops. We guys spend 20-30k on a cycle instead of buying a bike which pollutes and this is the reward that we get for it.

Almost a year ago some parts like seat clamp etc. from my bike went missing. Probably I was let of with warning. From than on I secure bikes with 3 cable locks - front wheel, frame & rear wheel. frame is further fastened to the building pillar.

Yes are spot on....!!!

Moral of the story : 1) Park your expensive bikes @ home.
2) Insure your bike.

Rajesh/Amitabh, very sorry to know.... I think the thief had been keeping a watch on ur bikes. Some months back another friend and customer lost his cyclone, havnt been able to trace it so far.
I would suggest pls DON'T park ur cycles in isolated places where there is no movement of people and in places hidden from view, as that will give ample time for the thief to work on the locks. Also pls understand one fact that any lock can be broken... if it is a good one it will take some extra time to break, but eventually it will.
Best would be to keep the bikes at home!!
