The last time I rode with Swapnil Shah, I was impressed. We were riding from Bandra - Gateway - Bandra a couple of Sunday's ago, and he got in touch with me out of the blue and we were happy that he joined us. What impressed me? That he rode all the way from Kandivili to Bandra, and then with the pack to Gateway, Matunga, back to Bandra with us, and then at in the blazing sun of 1 pm, he rode all he way back to Kandivili!
He'd mentioned a group doing the Uttan Hills rides and mentioned the steep inclines. Hey! Give me a challenge and I'm a sucker. So when Swapnil pinged me a couple of days ago telling me about the Uttan ride on Sunday, October 3, 2010 I was all set! To view pics go to my profile and look through my Cycling pictures.
I kinda knew it would be endurance grade but didn't really expect that I'd cover about 100 kms. But let me tell you, it was fun. I started off at Bandra at about 5. am, and Dasrath joined me at Santacruz on the Highway. I hadn't slept a wink the previous night, and was whacked! I didn't think I'd make it, when I was panting on the way to the Kashi Mira junction. But as we approached Kashi Mira, I caught my second wind, and I knew that I was up to the challenge. I met several new riders, Amitabh, David, Rakesh, Kevin, James, and we al hit it off just great. All serious riders, all with great spirit, sense of humor and fun in general. So the ride ended up as Bandra - Kashi Mira - Uttan Hills - Gorai - Aksa - Versova - Bandra. I believe it was just over 100 kms and I'm in one piece! A fun ride, wit fun people, great views. Look forward to the next one. I plan to do Borivali National Park for this same team, probably next Sunday.
