The Aundh-Baner-Balewadi (ABB) area are the first to get the public bicycle sharing scheme in Pune City.
For using a bicycle, people have to enrol their names by downloading an application that has been developed specially for the bicycle sharing scheme.
It is a three-month pilot scheme by the Pune Smart City Development Corporation limited (PSCDCL), to be inaugurated by Mayor Mukta Tilak.

"One of the private firms is giving 300 cycles for the pilot project.
They have 1.5 km of dedicated cycle track from Bremen chowk to Parihar chowk besides that, they are developing a patch of 2 km of track."

The smart cycle rental service is called PEDL, with an easy booking process, where people can scan the QR code in the cycle and unlock the PEDL, the name given to the bicycles as well.
"The QR code is to be scanned via the app.
Unlock the cycle and enjoy your ride.
Just lock the cycle when your trip is done.
The purpose of starting a public bicycle scheme is to move towards a greener, healthier and fitter tomorrow.
They are going to charge a nominal amount for the first half an hour and after that, for each hour, they will charge different rates.
Bicycles are enabled with GPS. So, after using the bicycle, the user can put it on the designated route so that a company official can spot the bicycle through GPS and pick up or hand over the vehicle to another user."
