As I had mentioned in the profile submitted when I joined this network, I had yet to buy a bicycle. I settled on a Hercules roadster. Then I set out to design and fabricate a sidecar. It took a while to convince a fabricator to take on an unusual project - but I found one. Then having built it, we needed to check the road-worthiness. Initially it pulled to either sides, but by adjusting the position of the CG of the load, it became quite stable and tracks straight. Though there is still scope for improvements.
I have registered for the Tour-de-India-Mumbai, and will ride for The Girl Child. I just hope there are no restrictions on having a sidecar with my cycle. I am using the sidecar to take my wife along for the ride.
We use it in the mornings and get a lot of looks of disbelief and amusement. I get my exercise, save on fuel costs, and do my little bit to reduce my carbon footprint!
