It cuts through Connaught Place. The mass cycle road race at the Commonwealth Games 2010 has finally been approved! It will now start from in front of the Free Church on Sansad Marg and will no longer encircle the swimming complex in Talkatora stadium, as planned earlier.
The new route will now go through Connaught Place, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, Central Vista, and back to Sansad Marg. It will basically turn the public roads into a race track for the Delhi Games 2010.
The games are literally hovering on our heads; I do hope the work will enter the fast expressway. We, the lucky Delhi cycling enthusiasts - pro as well as amateurs - will get a big boost thru this event, both infrastructure-wise and psychologically! It seems this route is going to be used for a 20-km race, road race, and a marathon.
All in all, the cycling event includes a 165-km race for men and a 100-km race for women with participants from 71 countries scheduled to take part....I wonder if we can arrange or organize something near the games....what say?
