Finally did a pune-mumbai ride all alone. Such a magical experience it was to ride on the old pune-mumbai highway. The terrain and the surrounding were awesome.

However, the whole spirit was dampened as soon as I entered the mumbai metropol. :(
The traffic, pollution, noise, people, carts, fear of being run over killed the spirit in me.
By the end of my ride till andheri, my face looked like someone had splashed it with used engine oil and the eyes were blood red. :(

Planning to do pune-goa now sometime soon. :)

Suggestions for preparation are welcome.

Ride on.

I did Pune - Lonavala - Pune a few days back. Took 3 hrs to reach Lonavala but it took almost 4 hrs for me to get back because of the strong winds.

So my guess is Pune to Mumbai wud be easier if the direction of the wind is still the same.

How long is Bhor ghat?

Obviously Pune Mumbai. There by you do not have to climb the formidable Bor ghat between Khopoli and Khandala.

Congrats Buddy, I understand when you say "Spirits Dampened :)"

Just had one question (its a matter of opinion) which route is easy - Mumbai - Pune or Pune - Mumbai or both are just the same? ( hope i have not complicated my question)

@Satyaprakash - Thanks for the suggestion. :)
@Kaustubh - You dont really have to plan too much. jst pack your stuff and leave. :) Carry your puncture repair kit, atleast two water bottles or hydration pack, choclate bars for instant energy and I personally carry GluconD as well for long rides.
As far as breaks are considered, i jst took one at Kamshet in d morning for some snacks. and had chocs on d way while riding itself.
Try to finish your ride at panvel cos riding in Mumbai would kill the whole spirit.
All the best. :)

After my 21day tour in the hinter land of Maharashtra I felt exactly the same. I never felt like going out. The noise and pollution were the deterrents. But you get over it.

Going to goa by high way then just dont worry too much. Service the cycle. get puncture repair kit. a pump. and what ever you need for the daily use. pack it and leave. ATM card is a must. Select hotels as per your choice and money at your disposal. Very good lock for the bike is a must. If you are using a very expensive bike then take it to your room. Do not keep it out in the open. Rim size 26" tyres are available in small towns but 700mm tyres  of hybrids are only available in big cities. So a spare tube for the 700mm size is needed to carry you to the next big city. Good luck for the ride.
