URGENT HELP REQUIRED IN CYCLE SELECTION!!

Thanx in Advance;
Please help in zeroing on a cycle for me.

Height - 5'8" or 8.5"
Weight - 97kg
Primary Use - In Bangalore; Commuting to Office approx 12-13km one side [25-28km round trip per day]
Budget - Strictly below 5K; need cycle to reduce my tummy as you have already guessed :()

Requires a real lightweight cycle but no racers as it kills back; Sleek tyres; Till now only found BSA Ladybird [I dont mind riding ladies cycles / Actually i prefer them as they are real less in weight & ergonomics are well thought out] matching my requirement. Please help & suggest anything better if you feel.
Thanx for your Time.

Thanx it really helps; But have a question being in bangalore means water poddles without warnings; Can you retrofit full Mudguards & a carrier & if possible front basket. As i will love to loose my Lappy & my tiffin box from my back.

Thanx, I have already gone thru them; Problem is having gears means lot of trouble; Mudguards too filmsy; i.e. these are not value for money; Cost is high due to high steel prices & not due to very high technical advancement. Done a comparative study on Geared v/s Non-geared ATB/MTB etc.. They all are kinda useless wheels, meant to put you in more trouble. If you are a serious offroader then only they fit the bill.

I zeroed on -- Firefox - 28" Roadrunner
Trek - Belleville WSD / Allant WSD
Atlas - Cameo / PRO-VX / MOON RAKER 26/ Ladywing/ Xena NV U/G
Hero - Neon / Hawk Nu Age

But couldn't make up my mind; I need something which fits the bill, easy maintenance, Brand Power i.e. BSA/Hero other's are Chinese Stuff!! Can you help as per these, please suggest a lady's Bicycle if possible as there are no Male good choices left.
